HEAVEN

2024

Total Duration: 19 Minutes

Material: performance with sculptural objects: TV Dish antennae, CRT TV, AV cart, Technics brand turntable system, turf, rhinestones, aluminum, mylar, extension cords, flyswatter, flashlight, chrome vinyl suit.

The performance HEAVEN begins as “the ghost hunter”, dressed in reflective silver workwear, appears with a homemade AV apparatus and turntable. As she rolls the cart through space, the screen and soundscape move with it. What unfolds is a drifting suburban night of headlights, fences, buzzing flies, voices, and distant music, as if another world can be viewed and physically navigated using the television screen. She becomes “possessed” by fragmented voices of teen house party-goers speaking through her body, and concludes the performance with a karaoke rendition of “Heaven” by the Talking Heads. She alternates between solo singing and a duet with a ghostly second voice induced by touching the television screen.

A Memory Hologram

2025

Total Duration: 3 Minutes, 30 Seconds

Material: performance with sculptural objects: AMFM radio, bluetooth tape cassette converter, found acrylic plastic, laser cut acrylic, metal springs, laser pointer, found plexiglass vitrine, LED grow light, chrome vinyl suit, cigarette.

The performance A Memory Hologram begins as “the ghost hunter” appears with a scientific apparatus topped with stalks of plastic faux plants, and an AMFM radio, retrofitted with an oversized glowing antenna. As she surfs through radio signals she makes contact with a voice and ambient forest landscape between frequencies. The ghost hunter and accompanying tools become a memory lighting rod, conjuring the spirit of a mysterious old man that speaks through the ghost hunter's body. The voice of the spirit is created using an audio collage of found home movie tapes. The specific phrases are collaged together from tapes that were filmed years apart.
